Why I’m Starting NoCo Author Nights in Northern Colorado

Something new is starting here in Greeley—and it didn’t come from a marketing plan.
It came from a realization.
I don’t want to wait for readers to find me anymore. I want to meet them where they already are. The places they gather. Places they go to relax, to socialize, to gather.
That realization led to something simple:
**NoCo Author Nights.**
A table. A conversation. A chance to discover something unexpected.
No stage. No pressure. No formal event.
Just real interaction in places people already enjoy—like local breweries and community spaces. Places where I can sit for an hour or two with my laptop. Places where I can not only write, but where you can come up to me and ask questions. Where you can hear stories. Where you can find out more about writing, authors, publishing, or just relax. No pressure
I’m building what I call a **literary shockwave**—something that starts here in Northern Colorado and spreads outward through real human connection.
Because stories shouldn’t just be read.
They should be experienced.
And the places that most people think of as the centers of art, or the centers of literature, shouldn’t be Denver or Boulder only. Northern Colorado has a rich environment of artistic talent. We have quality plays and venues. We have music that rivals anyplace in the country. And we have literature. Books, stage and screenplay writers. And they are good.
Once upon a time, Seattle was just a soggy town with a Space Needle. Now, it’s a gathering place for music, arts, coffee, and yes, writers. But I don’t want to have to travel to Seattle for all of that when we have it here.
If you see me at a NoCo Author Night, come say hi.
Ask questions. Talk stories. Or just listen.
You don’t have to plan for it.
You just have to stumble into it.
Because sometimes the best stories aren’t just the ones we read—they’re the ones we discover when we least expect it.
